20 armed policemen reportedly storm Accra FM premises to arrest their drive time host

About 20 armed policemen reportedly stormed the premises of Accra FM to arrest one of their news anchors identified as Nana Ama Agyarko on Monday, January 10, 2022.

According to Classfmonline.com, she was charged on the count of obstructing police work and abuse of police officer.

Sources say the station’s drive time host, Doctor Kay was rather arrested after they failed to arrest Nana Ama Agyarko.

The policemen claim Doctor Kay also obstructed them from doing their work.

It all started after some men in plain-cloth claiming to be policemen walked into Labone based station to with some staff of GBC stormed to demand for their permit to broadcast the ongoing African Cup of Nations matches.

According to the men, Accra FM had no right to broadcast the Afcon 2022 matches and this resulted in exchange of words between the men and the staff of the station

News anchor Nana Ama Agyarko tried to see their IDs to prove if indeed they’re policemen but report says they covered their faces and names on the ID which made the Nana Ama called them thieves and imposters.

The men called reinforcement and 20 heavily armed policemen stormed the premises but as at the time they came to arrest the news anchor, she was on air reading the evening news so couldn’t get access to the studio they rather arrested Docta Kay who initially attended to them when they came.

He was sent to the police headquarters where his statement was taken and granted bail.
