The National Film Authority (NFA) has given a new name to the Ghana Film Industry.
Some time ago, people suggested that the Film Industry should be called Ghallywood as the Nigerians have Nollywood and the Americans and Indians call theirs Hollywood and Bollywood respectively.
Even after actress Ama K Abebrese asked his followers about the name to be used for the movie industry, netizens came up with many names including CineKrom, GhanaCine, Anansekrom, CineGold, Adinkra Films, Blackstar Films, Ghallyfilm, Ananseman, Ghana Heritage Movies and CineFie popped up in the comment section.
Well it appears one of them got it right because the name for the Ghana Film Industry is now called Blackstar Films.
In a video available to KwaiAboagyeLive.com, Mr Kwaw Ansah together with Nakeeyat Dramani were seen unveiling the new name during a ceremony that took place in Accra.
The NFA set up a Brand Name Committee to come up with the name. The committee includes Mr Abeiku Sagoe, Prof Audrey Cadzekpo, Mr Kwabena Agyekum and Ms Laurene Maana Abdallah.
The rest are Kofi Kyei, Nakeeyat Dramani, Frank Fiifi Gharbin and Lenard Atawuceh Kubaloe.
