Government approves GHS 178.5m to construct offices for MPs


The Akufo-Addo led government has allocated an amount GHS 45.4m in the latest budget to build offices for Members of Parliaments (MPs) in their constituencies.

The huge amount of money is expected to be used to construct offices in 70 constituencies for MPs in the country.

Each office is estimated to cost GHS 650,000 and it is expected to be completed in 2024 for all 275 MPs across the country.

This follows government’sincrement of taxes even as the coronavirus pandemic rages.

The government claims free water and electricity some Ghanaians enjoyed needs to be repaid by all citizens because the country has no money.

However, the same government has approved GHS 178.5m to construct offices for MPs in the country.
