Popular Morning show host, Kwami Sefa Kayi has shared his view on the free SHS policy in the country.

According to him, parents who are rich and can afford to pay for their wards school fees should be given the chance to pay.

He advised the government while speaking on his show on Peace FM.

Kwami Sefa Kayi believes if the policy is re-evaluated those in need will get the access and those who can pay will do so.

Since the Free SHS program was started five years ago, I’m not sure why we haven’t reevaluated it. When a kid attends Achimota, how can someone who lives in East Legon be compelled to pay school fees?

In my view, the government should cover tuition, library costs, and other costs, but boarding school students should be responsible for their own expenditures. What is the best way for the government to acquire school supplies, such as uniforms, textbooks, and old exams? Have you ever come across any? Is it possible to purchase earlier questions? he asked.

The Free SHS policy was implemented in 2017 and many pupils were able to benefit from it. However, there have been concerns about the quality of instruction.

Many Ghanaians, like Kwami Sefa-Kayi, agree that while the free SHS program was a good one, it needed to be revised and fine-tuned because of the enormous numbers and lack of facilities.
